Exchanging Tunisian dinar in Katowice

In 1960, the dinar replaced the Tunisian franc, which had been the currency in Tunisia during its colonial past. The old currency was exchanged for the new one at a rate of 1:1000. But since the dinar was not devalued by the franc, the exchange rate had to be pegged to the US dollar.
Currently, banknotes from 2011 in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 30 and 50 dinars are in circulation. Paper money varies in color and design. So, on the obverse of the green 5 dinar banknote, Commander Hannibal is depicted, and on the reverse - a sailboat. On 10 dinars of blue color - on one side Princess Ellis and on the other an old bow. The purple twenty-dollar bills feature the image of politician Heyreddin Etunsi. 50 dinars decorate the museum building and a portrait of the 11th-century writer Ibn Al Rashid.
