Sri Lankan rupee exchange rate
Current Sri Lankan rupee to Polish zloty exchange rate at the MAX currency exchange office in Katowice.
Tamil Rupee: ரூபாய் is the official currency of Sri Lanka, it is divided into 100 cents, the international code is LKR, the currency is printed by the National Bank of Sri Lanka, usually written as ₨ (sometimes the form SL₨ is used to avoid confusion).
The Central Bank of Poland does not set a direct exchange rate of the Sri Lankan rupee against the Polish zloty, so it is calculated according to the cross rate - via the euro or the US dollar.
In 1826, the British pound became the official currency of Ceylon, replacing the Ceylon rixdollar at a rate of 1 pound = 13 rixdollars. British silver coins were also in use. Pound notes appeared in 1827, replacing the rixdollar. The rixdollar was finally withdrawn from circulation in June 1831. The Indian rupee became the standard coin of Ceylon on September 26, 1836, when Ceylon entered the Indian currency area. Pounds remained in use until 1836, along with the rupee. British silver coins circulated, and accounts were kept in pounds, shillings, and pence. Payments were made in rupees and annas at a fixed rate of 2 shillings per rupee (1 pound = 10 rupees). The Bank of Ceylon became the first private bank on the island to issue banknotes (1844); treasury notes were discontinued in 1856. On June 18, 1869, the Indian rupee became the official currency. On August 23, 1871, the rupee was converted to the decimal system. Therefore, the only legal tender in Ceylon was the 100-cent rupee. This occurred on January 1, 1872, when it replaced the British currency at the rate of 1 rupee = 2 shillings 3 pence.
