Armenian dram exchange in Katowice

The national currency of Armenia is the Armenian dram - international symbol - AMD. The word dram comes from the Greek drachma and is translated as money. In turn, a dram consists of 100 lums. Currently, coins are available in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 drams. And banknotes in denominations of 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000 drams. Coins from the 1994 sample except the 10 drams and banknotes from the 1993-1995 sample are not currently used. The drama has been in circulation since November 22, 1993. The design of all modern banknotes was developed by the English company Thomas de la Rue. The design of the 1993-95 banknotes was developed by the German company Giesecke & Devrient.

The national currency of Armenia is rich in color and reflects the countrys historical heritage. For example, the 1,000 dram banknote shows a portrait of the Armenian writer Yeghishe Charents. Mount Ararat visible in the background on the left. The reverse shows a horse harnessed to a cart with an old building in Yerevan in the background. The 50,000 dram banknote bears an image of the Etchmiadzin Cathedral, with the jubilee inscription on the left: "Christianity in Armenia - official religion - 1700." In the center of the reverse there are symbolic images of King Tiridates the Great, Saint. Gregory the Illuminator - spreading Christianity in Armenia and Mount Ararat in the background. On the right, a stone decoration of the church in Kecharis (12th-13th centuries). The banknote is protected by a watermark in the form of an Armenian cross.
